What this notice covers

This notice covers Guitar Made Clear, Piano Made Clear, madeclearmusic.app and support enquiries. Moorst Ltd. is responsible for the personal information described here. Features vary by app, platform and testing version; a feature described below only processes data when it is available and used.

Music stored on your device

Your songs, chord sets or progressions, strumming patterns, practice information and imported sheets can be kept on your device. Importing, exporting, sharing or printing places copies in the destinations you choose. You control those copies and should keep backups of music you want to preserve.

Optional accounts and cloud sync

If you use a Made Clear music account, we process your email address, account identifier and authentication information to provide sign-in and synchronise your library through Google Firebase. Synced content can include songs, chords or progressions, patterns, pins, confidence marks, practice counts and original sheet images. Images may contain embedded metadata. Only upload material you are entitled to use and share with this service.

Microphone and photographs

When you choose a listening or tuning feature, the app analyses microphone sound on your device. The app does not record or upload that audio. You can deny or withdraw microphone access in your device settings. Sheet import accesses the images you select; those images are uploaded if you use cloud sync. We do not use a location-permission feature.

Purchases and trials

Where purchases or trials are available, Apple or Google handles payment. We do not receive your payment-card or bank details. Access checks may process a separate generated purchase identity, app and platform, transaction identifiers, verification records and trial history. These allow access, restoration and fraud prevention. A music-sync account is separate from a store purchase. Purchase services are still being prepared during testing; test transactions are not a promise of live availability.

Support and website visits

If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Cloudflare forwards these messages to our Google-hosted support inbox. Cloudflare hosts this website and processes technical request information, such as IP addresses, for delivery and security. This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies and contains no advertising or analytics scripts.

Technical and security information

Firebase and platform services can process technical diagnostics, app and SDK versions, identifiers, network information and app or device integrity signals to operate and protect sign-in, sync and access checks. Security services may perform additional anti-abuse checks. We do not use advertising tracking or sell your personal information. The absence of advertising analytics does not mean that service providers process no technical information.

Why we use information

We use information needed to provide accounts, sync and requested support to perform our contract with you or respond to your request before a contract. Our legitimate interests support proportionate service security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and handling enquiries or disputes. We comply with legal duties where they apply. Optional device permissions give you control over microphone and image access; you can change these in your device settings.

Service providers and international processing

We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, library storage and service infrastructure; Cloudflare for website hosting, security and email forwarding; and Google for support email. Apple and Google also process information under their own store and platform policies. Service providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, appropriate contractual safeguards or recognised adequacy arrangements apply to those transfers. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

How long information is kept

Account deletion removes your cloud music and music account. A minimal deletion marker is retained to prevent an old device from restoring deleted data. Temporary recovery copies may remain until the storage provider’s deletion cycle completes. Offline copies on other devices and exports you keep are not remotely erased. Separate store, purchase and trial records are retained where needed to restore access, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or meet legal obligations; ask support if you want these reviewed as well. We explain any data we cannot erase and why when handling your request. Music is kept while you use your cloud library unless you delete it or your account. Support messages are kept for the enquiry and any related follow-up or dispute, then reviewed for deletion. Technical information follows provider retention settings and the security or troubleshooting need. Where a fixed period is not appropriate, retention depends on the continuing service need, unresolved requests or disputes and applicable legal duties. We do not promise that deleting a music account immediately erases every provider backup or separate purchase record.

Your choices and rights

You can use device-only music, manage app permissions, export a backup and delete your music account from the app or by contacting support. Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal information and object to processing based on legitimate interests. We may need to verify your identity. We respond within the applicable statutory period and explain any lawful exception. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or to your local data-protection authority.

Children and shared devices

A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s use of online accounts and store purchases. Please contact us if a child has provided personal information that should be removed. On a shared device, remember that another user may be able to see locally stored music and exported files.

Changes and contact

We update this notice when our services or data practices change and show the effective date above. For privacy questions or a data request, email support@madeclearmusic.app or write to our registered office shown on this page.
